Players Workshop presents the seventh annual international Diez Minutos Festival, San Miguel’s ever-popular festival of ten-minute plays, running Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7pm, and Sundays at 3pm, March 13 to 24, at the San Miguel Playhouse, Avenida Independencia 82, Col. Independencia.
This year’s unifying theme is the Seven Deadly Sins. The directors chose seven plays out of nearly two hundred submitted, and chose them blind — that is, the identities of the authors were unknown during the selection process.
The festival features many of San Miguel’s favorite actors and directors. Here is the lineup of plays:
“Beatrix Potter Must Die,” by Patrick Gabridge (Brookline, MA); directed by Maggie Bunce, starring Henrietta Weekes, and Frank Simons.
“When You Wish Upon A Star,” by Marilyn Bullivant (San Miguel de Allende, MX); directed by Lauren Osornio, starring Marilyn Bullivant and Rick Davey.
“Exceeding the Purchasable Calories,” by Rhea MacCallum (Downey, CA); directed by Paula Lopuch, starring Susan Rushton, Chris Capilla, and Kate Rowland.
“Poetry, Prose, and… Pirates!” by Ken Preuss (Oviedo, FL); directed by Kate Rowland, starring Michael Dobbin, Barbara Goushaw-Collins, Maggie Bunce, BC May, and Eli Hans.
“Domestic Disturbance,” by Hope Hommersand (River Forest, IL); directed by Michael Dobbin, starring Lee Harris, Kate Rowland, and Howard Bach.
“God on The Couch,” by Dan O’Day (Northridge, CA); directed by Marjorie Burren, starring Howard Bach and Marjorie Burren.
“Location Location Location,” by Rich Orloff (New York, NY); directed by BC May, starring Lauren Osornio and BC May.
Lee Harris is stage manager, Marlon Espinal Delrio will be assistant stage manager, and Gerardo Charreton and YaYa Mendez are handling lighting and sound.
